DESCRIPTION

The MalleoLoc L3 provides lateral stabilization for the upper and lower ankle in the shoe, and its removable elements make it ideal for supporting multi-stage treatment. It is exceptionally flat, which means it can fit even in everyday footwear. 

The MalleoLoc L3 combines a compression support with an L-shaped shell, which is fastened with two non-elastic Velcro® straps. The shell is positioned laterally to the lower leg, sitting in front of the outer ankle bone and extending across the talus. The upper strap winds around the lower leg, the lower strap around the foot and lower leg in a kind of figure of eight. 

The laterally stabilizing design counteracts a talar shift, provides protection against supination trauma, relieves the lateral capsular ligaments, and supports conservative and post-operative treatment. This does not impede the foot’s natural heel-to-toe movement. During walking, the intermittent compression of the support massages the soft tissue and assists in reducing swelling. This also has a positive influence on sensorimotor function, which helps to ensure active neuromuscular stabilization. 

If the need for stabilization decreases in the course of post-traumatic/post-operative treatment, first the shell and then the straps can be removed. The combination of the support and straps also counteracts supination. The support alone actively stabilizes the ankle with its proprioceptive effect.

MALLEOLOC® L3 – SLIM FIT ORTHOSIS FOR MULTI-STAGE TREATMENT OF THE ANKLE

During everyday movements and minor sporting activities, the MalleoLoc L3 protects the unstable ankle and prevents recurring sprains. Its special feature: the orthosis can be adjusted in its protective function, meaning it can supplement multi-stage treatment or support patients with chronic conditions who sometimes need more, sometimes less stabilization. Since its plastic shell is positioned exclusively on the side of the lateral malleolus (side of the ankle facing away from the body), it is particularly slim. Therefore, the orthosis fits in narrow shoes.

THREE STABILIZING ELEMENTS – THREE TREATMENT SOLUTIONS

The MalleoLoc L3 combines a one-sided stabilizing shell and straps with a muscle-activating compression support. The anatomically shaped L shell is positioned on the lower leg above the support, sitting in front of the lateral malleolus, and extending slightly across the instep. It is fastened at the lower leg and the foot using two non-elastic Velcro® straps. This means the orthosis protects the ankle from incorrect movements which may cause recurring sprains. The foot’s natural heel-to-toe movement is supported. If the need for stabilization reduces, the shell can be removed first, and the lower strap can be attached to the support. The strap provides an additional protection against spraining. Without strap, the support offers indirect stabilization due to its massage effect during movement. In addition to reduce swelling, it activates the muscles, and contributes to better coordination.

SLIM FIT FOR DAILY USE

The MalleoLoc L3 must be worn in shoes to stabilize the ankle. The integrated support and the shell fitted on one side are anatomically shaped. Together, they are so slim that the orthosis fits in sports shoes and even business shoes.

PRODUCT CARE

Washing regularly helps our supports maintain their shape and last longer. All Bauerfeind supports are made with machine washable materials.

HERE’S HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR BRACE:

For products with Velcro® straps, pads or inserts, remove them if possible, or fasten them securely at the place provided on the brace. Machine wash your brace in cold water using the gentle or delicate cycle. Wash separately using a laundry detergent with no additives (do not use fabric softener or Woolite). Lay your support flat and let it air-dry; do not put it in the dryer.

Proper washing and drying helps your knit support maintain its elasticity and original fit.

DELIVERY INFORMATION

• Orders of £30 or more qualify for free delivery. For orders under £30, a £3.95 delivery charge will apply.
• We only accept orders with a UK delivery address.
• The product price you see on our website includes VAT.
• All deliveries are by courier service and should arrive within 3 – 5 working days.  Leave safe and delivery to a neighbour have been disabled on our DPD account due to security reasons.
• DPD will deliver but will not ask for a signature, they usually take a photo of the parcel in the open doorway of the delivery address.  If you are not at home you can chose what happens to your parcel via the "in flight" options via the DPD app or tracking page.

RETURNS & REFUND INFORMATION

• You can return any product up to 14 days following receipt of the item. (please note that the return must be returned to us within 14 days from delivery).
• The product must be unused, in its original packaging and in a saleable condition.
• You will be responsible for the shipping cost of returning the product.
• We will only refund the shipping cost, should we have picked the wrong product in error, or it is proven to be faulty.
• Before returning an item, please contact us by email orders@brace-yourself.co.uk or by phone 0800 3688964.  We will give you a returns number, together with details on how and where to return your item.  Please note, we cannot process a return without an authorised returns number.
• Returns will be processed and refunded within 15 working days from receipt of the item into our returns department and on the basis that it complies fully with our terms and conditions.
• Refunds will be paid to your purchasing card.
• If you are looking to exchange an item based on a sizing issue, please make the customer service team aware when you contact them for a returns number.
• When returning a product, please be aware that this is at your risk until received by us.  We therefore strongly recommend you return the item using a tracked service with insurance cover, in case of damage or loss.
• We reserve the right to refuse a returned item if we deem it to be in an unsuitable condition. 
• Hygiene notice:
  For health and hygiene reasons, we cannot accept returns of pillows that have been opened or used, unless they are faulty.
